Quantitative Research Sample - 769 Words

The site for my interviews will be at the four elementary schools in the district. In order to obtain a purposeful sample outlined by Creswell, I must include all schools where the data analysis took place. Furthermore, I will need to choose with purpose whom I will interview with the intent that I develop a strategy to choose these individuals. For the purpose of this study, I should choose to interview teachers whose students participated in the SBA in the spring of 2017. While all teachers, K-5 may participate in the school climate survey, in order to answer the question of why, I will need to interview the teachers that administer the assessment. The sampling strategy I plan to use is ‘critical sampling.’ I plan to use this†¦show more content†¦Since I am not conducting the quantitative research with the survey, I have factors outside of my control. Participation of the survey is voluntary, with the survey communicated via email to staff members. While verbal and email communications suggest participation, it is not mandatory. There is also a short window to complete the survey. Creswell identifies one factor that could influence the research as the questions being unclear or ambiguous (Creswell, 2015). The school climate survey attempts to ask several questions that are simliar. During my data analysis, I will attempt to create factors of questions to lower the total number of areas to analyze. In regards to the other quantitative data that I plan to analyze, it is a standardized test, SBA. Many factors could contribute to the student results. Prior research indicates that different factors co uld influence student performance on this assessment. I plan to look at two academic areas assessed, Language Arts and Mathematics. While I may only use two for my study, it will be important to begin analyzing both to find a relationship with climate and achievement.
